Du Fu Thatched Cottage
Located at Flower Washing Brook (huanhuaxi) on the western outskirts of Chengdu, Du Fu Thatched Cottage is an idyllic 24-acre (97,000 m2) park and museum in honor of the Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu at the western outskirts of Chengdu.
Du Fu or Tu Fu (712-770) was a prominent Chinese poet during the Tang Dynasty. In the winter of 759, Du Fu moved to Sichuan to take refuge. There he built a thatched hut along the bank of the Huanhua Stream. he spent four years of his life and produced more than 240 poems oft-quoted and widely loved. People started to construct gardens and halls on the site of his thatched cottage to honor him in Song Dynasty. Three main areas in Du fu Thatched Cottage: u Gong Bu memorial Hall (Du Gongbu ci), The Thatched Cottage of Du Fu and The Hall of great poets (Da Ya Tang).
